About this deal

In addition to the Landmarks module, this expansion includes more unique wildlife scoring cards and habitat tiles to add variety and enough components to play Cascadia with 5-6 players. Each species has its own unique traits to consider, such as its ecosystem, its spatial requirements, and its connections to other animals. Normal Game (multiplayer but I solo these too)- these are straightforward goals, and the winner of the game only gets to tick the achievement off on their hiking trail if they hit it. Cascadia is an accessible game that offers challenges suitable for all gamers, with approachable gameplay and strategic depth. This is one we are recommending to everyone at the moment as we have absolutely fallen in love with it.

At the same time, you want to place wildlife tokens so that you can maximize the number of points scored by them, with the wildlife goals being determined at random by one of the four scoring cards for each type of wildlife. uk on Instagram, popped round for a games day and taught me it, Cascadia was ripped from the shrink as soon as she left so we could play it again… and check that we had the extra few Kickstarter cards in the box! Four tiles are on display, with each tile being paired at random with a wildlife token, so you must make the best of what’s available — unless you have a nature token to spend so that you can pick your choice of each item.Ideally you can place habitat tiles to create matching terrain that reduces fragmentation and creates wildlife corridors, mostly because you score for the largest area of each type of habitat at game\'s end, with a bonus if your group is larger than each other player\'s. Note: Achievements and Rule Restrictions aren’t intended for solo play, but I can’t see why not and I use them for added crunch sometimes!

The rule book has lots of helpful diagrams too though so if you get stuck, it’s always there for reference! In the Cascadia board game, you take turns building out your own terrain area and populating it with wildlife. Take a journey to the Pacific Northwest as you compete to create the most harmonious ecosystem in Cascadia. Players score points by creating the most harmonious spatial arrangements of wildlife, and also by creating the largest contiguous habitat corridors. Cascadia, on the surface, feels and plays very simply, however, bubbling underneath is a puzzle that could be pondered for hours upon end.

One for each type of animal, and there are multiple sets (A, B, C, D which can be mixed and matched), such that no single game plays according to the same scoring conditions as another.

It’s relatively quick to play, offers a nice puzzle to solve and still gives you plenty of decisions to make. Ideally you can place habitat tiles to create matching terrain that reduces fragmentation and creates wildlife corridors, mostly because you score for the largest area of each type of habitat at game's end, with a bonus if your group is larger than each other player's.

The two newly created spaces then get refreshed with randomly drawn tiles and tokens from a stack of Habitat tiles on the far left of the draw line and Wildlife Tokens from the bag. There is a strong replay ability because you can mix and match cards to make each game's goals different. The easy mode makes each animal score in a similar way, reducing the number of scoring conditions the player must learn. In this calming game, you take turns building out your own terrain area and populating it with wildlife. In that regard, it is the ideal after work game when you are tired from the day but still want to pull something to the table that scratches the board game itch.

We love the easy to explain rules and then the amount of strategy you can put into placing a tile and a token.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s two puzzles in one that must be navigated in conjunction, like a tandem being ridden in two separate directions. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. You start with three hexagonal habitat tiles (with five types of habitat in the game), and on a turn you choose a new habitat tile that\'s paired with a wildlife token, then place that tile next to your other ones and place the wildlife token on an appropriate habitat. Each animal has a set of cards with different ways they can score and for your first game, the ‘A’ cards are recommended. NB: I was a little confused by the shapes in this section, but they are just markers each player can use to track their progress).
