About this deal

It’s an ideal size for a week or two-week trip: plenty of room inside, but still small enough for easy travel.

There’s a small cabin sized case for weekend breaks, a medium sized one for a week away, and a large suitcase for when you need to take everything including the kitchen sink. As it has a hard shell it would be well protected and I’d put it in the middle of the suitcase between my clothing so it would have some soft cushioning! From backpacks of various shapes and sizes, to duffel bags and rolling cases, I have the bag for every type and duration of trip – whether it be for an expedition to Antarctica, three months backpacking in Guatemala, or a city break in Palma de Mallorca.

I took the medium, my friend took the carry-on, and two of my other friends shared the Clifton Large. It was something I hadn't seen previously as part of the Clifton set, nor from competitor luggage brands. Over the last couple of months, I’ve been road- (and flight-) testing the Clifton luggage set from Antler, and I’ve been thoroughly impressed. The handle features two buttons which need to be pressed to compress it, which was slightly fiddly when bundling into a taxi, but honestly, that was my only tripe. This means that myself and my husband are often travelling through the airport with 3-4 suitcases, car seats, a pushchair and 5 hand luggage bags. One side is an open section with straps for holding everything in, while the opposite side has a zip-up cover with two large pockets. To be honest, there aren't that many differences between the Antler Stamford and Antler Clifton ranges. Its dimensions are 55 x 40 x 20 cm which makes it precisely compliant with Ryanair’s stingy cabin bag allowance and smaller than Easyjet’s ‘large cabin bag’ size of 56 x 45 x 25 cm.

It doesn’t have an easy to access laptop pocket or a liquids pocket to be able to remove items at security. I think they’re so stylish in taupe and blush, but I’d go for darker colours if you’re a frequent traveller and don’t want to spend too much time cleaning your cases.I have recently read that The Pink Stuff cleaning detergent is great for removing marks on hard shelled suitcases so I’ll give this a go and update you! When I’m travelling with just a cabin case, I’ll also have a small handbag, backpack, laptop bag or briefcase for all my personal items I’d like to remove during the flight, so it’s not too much of an issue. Antler has a proud tradition of Great British Design epitomised by their team of talented and creative designers based at their London HQ. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If a slightly elevated design, marginally smoother wheels and a USB charging port are priority for you, spend a little more on the Stamford.

After landing in Puglia, the case was a tad heavy coming off the carousel, though that was doubtless said shoes, waterproofs and swimwear… I will say though, if you're after a travelling hack to get the most out of a 23. Again – the handle is also clearly well-made and durable, right down to the button you press to extend and retract it. Inside the case, you’ll find packing straps, a D-zip pocket, plus a waterproof and mesh pocket—perfect for keeping your belongings neat and tidy. There’s a large mesh pocket (great for small loose items like charging cables) and a large clear plastic pocket which could be good for storing small liquids – or for keeping your travel documents safe. This Antler suitcase is colour-fast, so any inevitable scratches will stay true to the colour of the shell. That’s why a hard-shelled case like the Antler Clifton is your best option for avoiding becoming a bedbug taxi service – it’s much harder for the bugs to jump on board, especially if you take care to always keep the case closed and away from other soft furnishings in your hotel room. Thankfully, the spinner wheels exceeded my expectations, traversing from pavement to road to cobblestone without a struggle. Though I had to hang onto it tightly on the Underground as it had a strong tendency to want to roll away. You can twist the handle as you steer the case – and it makes manoeuvring through busy airports and train stations so much easier.
